AR Module with the Best Picture Quality in the World
The Last AR Dev Kit You Will Need (Until We Make a Better One)
The birdbath-type optical module greatly reduces the weight of the AR Development Kit. It also provides anti-ambient light reflection interference, stomach-upsetting judder, and is designed and manufactured carefully to avoid unwanted light reflection on the glass surface.
The AR development kit is based on birdbath optical technology. It supports Dual 0.7inch 1920*1080 Micro AMOLED displays, and has a 100 inch large size screen with high resolution and comes with a light, yet highly integrated multifunctional driver board .
It comes with a Type-C port, allowing hot-plug function for on-the-go connections with smartphones, notebooks, or PCs, and with an additional DisplayPort support. The frame allows inter-pupillary distance adjustment and can be configured in adjustable frames. The AR Development Kit also packs an 8M camera, 9-axis motion sensor, audio output and a USB type-C power supply.
Base on USB device protocol , it is easy to develop applications for Android smartphone and tablets. Accessing the camera, sensors and the display of the device is a piece of cake.
Whether you are focusing on a unique Human-Computer Interaction design or primarily creating a difference in the software-side, our AR Development Kit will speed up your team's prototyping efforts immensely.

Get in Touch with Us:
If you have any questions please:
A) Send us an email on info@displaymodule,
B) Write a review below,
C) Submit issues on github for software questions, or
D) Connect with us on Twitter or Facebook.
1 Why is there no display when I plug in the AR dev-kit?
Firstly, please confirm whether the host (computing unit, here we mean PC, mobile phone etc. can run standalone) is support DisplayPort over USB Type-C.
If it is, make sure that the Type-C port you plug in the AR dev-kit has DisplayPort signal out. Some PC has Type-C port but don't have DisplayPort out.
If there is still no display, please re-plug in the AR dev-kit.
2 Why does the AR dev-kit show flashing stripes?
Please try to plug in the AR dev-kit again, and make sure the type-c cable connect to the host is stable, if it is loose, the signal quality is not good enough.
If this issue only occure on 3D mode, re-plug not solve this issue, please change another host device and try again.
Because some host device can't output good quality of signal at 3840x1080p60 cause the display fail.
3 Can I only buy one monocular optical module?
No, but you can disassemble it and design your glasses without the metal holder.
It means that you will have to fix the pupillary distance.
4 What version should I select?
Version V2.0 is our recommended model, which is more reliable and provides better interfacing.
5 Why does the AR dev-kit only show a blank Android screen?
Please try to plug in the AR dev-kit again.
6 Is there any hurt on my eyes using the AR dev-kit?
We use a technology similar to the projector. The light will not hit your eyes directly, and there is no harm on your eyes.
7 How many display modes of the AR dev-kit?
There are two modes supported on the AR dev-kit, 2D mode and 3D mode.
When in 2D mode, left and right eye display the same content.
When in 3D mode, left half content display on left eye display, right half content display on right eye display.
8 What is the resolution of the display when in 2D mode?
When in 2D mode, the left eye display resolution is 1920x1080 and the right eye display resolution is 1920x1080. left and right eye display the same content.
AR dev-kit report as a 1920x1080p60 display via EDID to the host.
9 What is the resolution of the display when in 3D mode?
When in 3D mode, the content will be splited evenly into the left and right sides. Left half display on left eye display and right half display on right eye display.
The total resolution is 3840x1080, i.e. left 1920x1080, right 1920x1080. AR dev-kit report as a 3840x1080p60 display via EDID to the host.
10 Why the temperature of my AR dev-kit is getting higher after a use for a while?
To make the AR dev-kit more compact, we placed most of the chips at the forehead area of the dev-kit. Getting warm is a normal phenomenon during a long-time operation of the AR dev-kit.
If you feel the temperature of the glasses is getting higher, stop using it and wait for a few minutes until the temperature drops.
In order to improve the user experience, we will continue to optimize the heating problem.
11 Why the RGB camera of my AR dev-kit cannot be open?
Please confirm whether the connection between the usb cable of the AR dev-kit and the compution unit (host) is stable. If it is loose, the RGB camera might fail to open.
Also please make sure that RGB camera module is in the PCB camera mount stable, if it is loose, the RGB camere might fail to open.
If you are using Android Host for developing, please make sure that you give your APP the USB permission and Camera permission before operate the camera.
In addition, it can be confirmed by connecting a Windows system computer with a Type-C cable, Turn on the computer camera, and you can switch it to the AR dev-kit camera for a check.
12 What is the resolution of the RGB camera?
MJPEG 3264x2448, 15fps
13 Which camera sensor installed in the AR dev-kit? Can we use other camera sensor?
Sony IMX 179.
No, we not support other camera sensor at this moment.
14 What model of display does this AR dev-kit use?
15 Does the control board transmit the EDID to the connected device?
Yes. It transmit the EDID info to connected host. Our AR dev-kit only support 1920x1080p60(2D mode) and 3840x1080p60(3D mode).
16 Why the AR dev-kit has no display on rockchip 3399?
Make sure that rk3399 enable down spreading control.
How to enable down spreading control?
Please find the file kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/rockchip/cdn-dp-link-training.c, then find the function "int cdn_dp_software_train_link(struct cdn_dp_device *dp)" @355 change line @377 link_config = 0; link_config = 0; to link_config = 0x10; link_config = 0x01.
There is a USB hub driver IC on the Development Kit of the main board and that comes with programed firmware.
Just to plug the kit on your mobile phone or notebook by using the Type-C interface.
You should design your audio part if you want to use mic or speaker.
About the hardware specification please check the Hardware User Guide
You can realize your own idea whether it is in the form of glasses or a helmet, to name a few.
You can download the structure component example
We can offer structure design technical support including 3D printing service and DFM Optimization.
It a good idea to develop your application on Android because 5G technology is projected to bring much more resource bandwidth to handheld XR projects.
This way your main concern will be delivering the best scenes and contents rather than worrying about bandwidth.
We offer some samples on github
and will keep updating new projects over there.
