Keep image transfer and touch reporting distinct

The ST7789V and FT6236 perform different jobs. The chosen display bus supplies the image, while I²C carries touch data back to the host application.

Build the touch path alongside the display

The FT6236 handles capacitive touch separately from the ST7789V image path. Reserve I²C signals and touch reset/interrupt connections in the host design, then use the module touch specification and the FT6X36 family document to implement communication.

01

Touch addressing

The module gives 0x38 as the 7-bit I²C slave address. Its I²C timing table specifies a 10–400 kHz SCL frequency range.

02

Display bus selection

Choose the MCU, serial or RGB connection to match the host hardware. Interface-select pin states, data lines and timing differ between these modes.

Touch assembly and operating limits

01

Check the complete assembly

The module dimension includes the touch/display assembly. Use the drawing to place the cover opening and to leave access for the display and touch FPCs.

02

Start with a known image

Initialize the ST7789V for the selected interface and verify the full 240 × 320 image area before adding the application interface.

03

Align touch coordinates

Confirm the touch coordinate mapping against the displayed orientation. The module supports single-point touch and gestures; implement only the behavior specified for this assembly.

Operating temperature limits are −20 to +70 °C and storage limits are −30 to +80 °C in the module specification. Account for the touch assembly as well as the TFT when reviewing the finished product.

Touch controller and optical details

Which touch controller belongs to this module?

The module identifies FT6236. The supplied FT6X36 family reference complements the model-specific touch specifications; it does not change the controller identity.

What information does the host receive over I²C?

Touch data comes from the FT6236. Image commands and pixels use the separately selected ST7789V interface, so the graphics and touch software have distinct communication paths.

What is included in the brightness specification?

The optical table lists 580 cd/m² minimum and 630 cd/m² typical. The separate LED figures are 60 mA minimum and 80 mA typical forward current, with 3.2 V typical forward voltage.
