Custom COG LCD Modules for Medical and Handheld Devices

We bond the driver chip straight onto the glass — no PCB behind the display. That's what keeps COG modules thin, light, and low power. Five standard models ship from stock, no MOQ. Custom versions: we'll adapt the FPC, backlight, cover glass, and interface to match your device.

Why COG

Why COG works in small, battery-powered devices

01

Thin and light

No PCB behind the glass. The 20×2 character module is 6.3 mm thick and weighs 15.1 g. The 16×2 weighs just 11.3 g.

02

Very low power

The 128×64 SPI model draws up to 147 µA at 3.3 V with the backlight off. Logic supplies run from 2.4 V to 5.0 V across the lineup.

03

Readable in daylight

FSTN transflective models stay readable in daylight with the backlight off. The white LED backlight takes over in the dark.

Custom Work

What we customize

A custom COG module starts from our standard platform. We change what your device needs. Send us a drawing or your host board limits — an engineer reviews every request.

01

FPC design

Shape, length, pin count, and connector position matched to your PCB and housing.

02

Interface matching

8080, 6800, 4-SPI, or I2C direct from your MCU. Adapter boards when your host uses HDMI, USB Type-C, LVDS, or eDP.

03

Display mode and backlight

Positive or negative, transflective or transmissive, white LED backlight — set for where the screen will be read.

04

Cover glass and mounting

Cover glass and mechanical support for your handheld or benchtop housing.

05

Firmware bring-up

Initialization code for the on-glass controller, and support until your screen shows its first frame.

Custom work is quoted per project. Standard modules stay no-MOQ either way.

About Our Factory

Bonded, assembled, and tested in-house

We test every module before it leaves — luminance, chromaticity, dead pixel check. Our custom bonding and FPC work runs on the same line as the standard stuff.

Quick Answers

Common questions

Do standard COG modules really have no minimum order?

Yes. No MOQ applies to existing standard modules. You can order a single piece for evaluation, and samples ship from stock. Custom engineering such as FPC redesign, adapter boards, or bring-up support is scoped and quoted separately per project.

What can be customized on a COG LCD module?

FPC shape, length, pin count, and connector position; interface matching across 8080, 6800, 4-SPI, and I2C; display mode, polarizer, and white LED backlight configuration; cover glass; and driver or adapter boards when your host uses HDMI, USB Type-C, LVDS, or eDP. Initialization code and bring-up support are included in custom engineering projects.

Which controllers and interfaces do your COG modules use?

The graphic lineup integrates ST7565R, ST7565P, or ST7565 controllers with 8080 or 6800 parallel buses and 4-SPI. The 16x2 and 20x2 character modules use ST7032I and ST7036I controllers on I2C. Because the driver IC sits on the glass, no external driver board is needed.

Are COG LCD modules suitable for medical and handheld devices?

They are widely used there because the modules stay thin and light, down to 6.3 mm and 11.3 g on the character line, and readable in daylight with the backlight off. All five standard models run from -20 to +70 degrees Celsius and pass full optical and electrical inspection before shipping. Certification of the final device stays with your product team.

How fast can I get samples and production quantities?

Standard samples ship from stock immediately. Factory bulk lead time is about 3 weeks. Delivery runs 3 to 5 business days by DHL or UPS and is free for orders over 800 USD under 2 kg.

Where can I get datasheets and initialization code?

Every product page carries the full datasheet PDF with mechanical drawings, pinouts, timing, and initialization sequences, plus the controller IC documentation. For custom projects, initialization code and bring-up support are part of the engineering scope.

What does volume pricing look like?

Discounts are published on every product page: 5% for 10 to 49 pieces, 10% for 50 to 199, 15% for 200 to 499, and 20% for 500 and above. For larger programs, request a volume quote and engineering will price custom variants at the same time.
